Paint.NET is based on the .NET Framework developed by Microsoft. The latter also has requirements on the Windows side, and Microsoft is not always clear about this. The main developer of Paint.NET does not necessarily test all combinations of Windows (especially since the end of SPs).
Therefore, depending on the architecture of your Windows, I am providing here all the downloads I offer, in order of versions, so that you can more easily test them from the newest for your system to the oldest for your system. The order is the reverse of what I list.

Note

I'm providing a small PHP tool I developed to help choose the right downloads, and in which order to try installing them when multiple versions are available.

This is a PHP form with 2 questions. One page for the question 1 => then another page for the question 2 => and finally a third page with the final result depending on your answers.

The questions are simple: the major version of your Windows (with the exact version if possible), and the architecture of your Windows. But if you don't know the answer, or only partially, there are possible answers indicating that you don't know the answer at all (or only partially).
